Summary: How to use and precautions for alkaline cleaning agents
Instructions for Use
1. Preparation: Wear protective gear such as rubber gloves and goggles, and ensure good ventilation in the work area. Select a suitable alkaline cleaning agent based on the object to be cleaned and the degree of soiling. Read the product instructions to understand its properties, dilution ratio, and usage requirements.
2. Diluting the Solution: Add an appropriate amount of water to a clean container. Then, according to the product instructions, slowly pour the alkaline cleaning agent into the water while gently stirring with a stirring rod to ensure complete dissolution and mixing. Note: The cleaning agent should be poured into the water, not the water into the cleaning agent, to avoid splashing and other hazards.
3. Cleaning Operation: Depending on the object being cleaned, cleaning can be done by immersion, wiping, or spraying.
Immersion: For small parts or items, they can be completely immersed in the diluted alkaline cleaning solution. The immersion time depends on the severity of the soiling, generally ranging from a few minutes to several tens of minutes. During immersion, the solution can be stirred or shaken appropriately to improve the cleaning effect.
Wiping: For large equipment, furniture surfaces, walls, etc., a cloth, brush, or sponge can be used to dip in the alkaline cleaning solution and then gently wipe the soiled surface. The force should be moderate to avoid scratching the surface. For stubborn stains, wipe repeatedly or increase the number of wipes.
Spraying: In some large-area cleaning work, such as cleaning building exteriors, a sprayer can be used to evenly spray the alkaline cleaning solution onto the soiled surface. When spraying, pay attention to maintaining an appropriate distance between the sprayer and the cleaning surface to avoid splashing the cleaning solution onto the surrounding environment.
4. Rinse Thoroughly: Use clean water to thoroughly rinse the alkaline cleaning solution from the surface of the object being cleaned, ensuring that no cleaning agent remains. For items where residual cleaning agent may affect subsequent use, such as tableware and food processing equipment, pay special attention to thorough rinsing.
5. Drying: Use a clean towel or hair dryer to wipe or dry the cleaned items to prevent water stains or rust on the surface.
Precautions
1. Avoid Contact with Skin and Eyes: Although alkaline cleaning agents are less corrosive than acidic cleaning agents, high concentrations of alkaline solutions can still harm the skin and eyes. If accidental contact with skin or eyes occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
2. Prevent Ingestion and Inhalation: Keep alkaline cleaning agents out of the reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion. During use, avoid inhaling the volatile gases of the cleaning agent. If used in a poorly ventilated environment, wear a mask and other protective equipment.
3. Note the Material of the Object Being Cleaned: Although alkaline cleaning agents have minimal corrosiveness to most metal materials, for some amphoteric metals (such as aluminum and zinc) and certain special alloy materials, a small-area test should be conducted before use to ensure that it will not cause corrosion. In addition, for some alkali-resistant plastics, rubber, leather, etc., alkaline cleaning agents should be used cautiously to avoid material deformation, aging, or damage.
4. Do Not Mix: Alkaline cleaning agents should not be mixed with acidic cleaning agents, chlorine disinfectants, etc., as this will cause a neutralization reaction, reducing the cleaning effect and possibly producing toxic gases such as chlorine, causing safety accidents.
5. Follow Environmental Protection Requirements: Used alkaline cleaning wastewater should be treated according to local environmental protection requirements. Generally, the pH and pollutant content of the wastewater can be adjusted to meet discharge standards through neutralization and sedimentation methods before discharge to avoid environmental pollution.
6. Storage Conditions: Store alkaline cleaning agents in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight and high temperatures. At the same time, keep them separate from acidic substances, flammable materials, etc., to prevent accidents.
